Attila Dogan - Group of Companies

99-03-18 - AD's Canadian connection means important overseas contracts

  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CALGARY: The presence of international design and construction company Attila Dogan in Canada is resulting in contracts for suppliers and builders who might otherwise miss out on important overseas work.

The Turkish based company established its office in Calgary in 1996. Since then, it has been able to facilitate opportunities and numerous contacts for Canadian companies.

Most recent is this year’s joint venture between Attila Dogan of Ankara, Turkey and AGRA Monenco Inc. (Canada) to begin construction of the $80 million (US) plant for the Jordan Magnesia Company (JORMAG) on a lump sum basis.

Initial engineering and design for the JORMAG operation has already been started by AGRA Monenco of Oakville, Ontario. Attila Dogan will carry out on site construction over the next 22 months.

Attila Dogan Canada’s director Dale Richards said the Canadian office is proving to be a vital link between Canadian companies and the parent firm which is familiar with the middle eastern and central asian business cultures.

"Suppliers in particular may never have gone there if it were not for us. Attila Dogan’s strength is that in general they know the area and Turkey in particular is a crucial link on the chain of international corporate negotiations. We see a great deal of potential in future projects of this nature," he said.

Gas International of Vancouver provided the engineering supervision while Attila Dogan procured the materials then carried out the construction.

A loan to the municipality of the Turkish capital of Ankara from Canada’s Export Development Corporation resulted in completion of that city’s gas project having a high level of Canadian content. The loan also led to establishment of the Canadian office at the same time.  (For more information on the project)

"The biggest value we see in projects of this magnitude is marrying Canadian engineering and project management with knowledge the Turks have of major construction projects," Mr Richards stated.
