Participants are introduced to the basic concepts of the GlobalPositioning System (GPS) and will become proficient using the various GPSMapping systems. Upon completion of the program, attendees will have acquiredboth the knowledge and confidenceneeded to successfully implement and efficiently complete a GPS/GIS data captureproject. This is accomplished through a series of hands on exercises includingmission planning, data dictionary creation, data capture techniques, datapost-processing and analysis, and GIS data export. Trimble Certified Workshop Descriptions Introductionto the Geo XT/XM and Terrasync Software (1day) Thisintensive, one-day workshop is designed to offer existing Trimble users anoverview of the GeoXT/XM GPS receiver and Terrasync software. Participantswill learn how to configure Terrasync software, display background images andcollect field data. Ideal for existing Trimble Mapping product users keen ongetting the most of their investment in Trimble's latest Mapping products. High Accuracy DataCollection Workshop (1 day) Trimble's GPS mappingsystems can collect data with decimeter and centimeter level accuracy. Thishands-on workshop covers field and office techniques required to get the bestpossible accuracy from a GPS mapping receiver. The instructor will discuss anddemonstrate when and where it is appropriate to use high-accuracy datacollection techniques, as well as what results you can expect. GIS Data MaintenanceWorkshop (1 day) Geographic InformationSystems are built, not bought and as they begin to mature, keeping the data upto date and current takes on a more significant role. This workshop will providehands on experience in the GIS data collection/maintenance cycle. Attendees willlearn how to design data structures suitable for collection and futuremaintenance, extracting existing data from a database, re-locate a feature inthe field, confirm or modify the feature attributes and/or positions andre-integrate the modifications back into the GIS. Note this workshop isdesigned for experienced users of Arc View (3.x), Trimbles Pathfinder Officesoftware and GPS mapping basics.
