Thiscourse is specifically designed to introduce new users of the Global PositioningSystem (GPS) to the basics and fundamentals of how to conduct controlsurveys using classic static GPS techniques. The course provides a broadoverview of post-processing GPS surveying techniques through a series ofclassroom lectures and field exercises featuring Trimble GPS receivers andGeomatics Office software. Recommendedfor surveyors with no GPS experience at all this course is available in a 3 or 4day format but may be customized to better address the students specific needs.The 3 day course covers Static and Fast-Static surveys, the 4 day also coversconcepts, field and office procedures to conduct post processed, Kinematicsurveys.

Network Design for GPS Surveys

   Purpose/Guidelines of Network Design

   Independent baselines, redundancy issues.

 

Afternoon

Static and Fast Static Surveying

   Data collection procedures, post-processing conditions, hardware/software components

Survey Controller/Receiver Operations

   Introduction to TSC1/TSCe/ACU Survey Controllersoftware

Receiver configurations covering4600/4700/4800/5700/5800 models

Local Network Reconnaissance and Field Survey Fast Static, Session 1

   Practical field techniques, antenna measurements,recording procedures.

 

Day2 Post-Processed Surveying (Trimble Geomatics Office)

Review of Day 1 material, basics and fundamentals 

Field Survey - Fast Static, Session 2- Second set of field observations

Introduction to Trimble Geomatics Office Software

   Project creation, configuration, display settings, filestructure

   Data transfer from receiver, check-in to TGO projectdatabase.

   Import of data from other sources (.dat, rinex, CORS,other projects etc.)

   Processing set-up, building the processing network.
