TelVue Corporation and Starz Encore to Offer Innovation in Pay TV Marketing --
Cable subscribers can schedule on-demand previews of Starz using the Internet

TelVue Corporation announced today that it is working with Starz Encore Group LLC toallow cable TV subscribers to schedule and view individual free previews of Starz EncorePay TV channels using a variation of TelVue’s patent pending Internet orderingtechnology.

Starz Encore Group LLC (Starz Encore) is the largest provider of cable andsatellite-delivered premium movie channels in the United States, currently counting morethan 53 million pay units through its ownership of 13 domestic channels including STARZ!and its Thematic Multiplex channels STARZ! Theater, BET Movies/STARZ!, STARZ! Cinema, andSTARZ! Family; the New Encore and its Thematic Multiplex channels Mystery, Action, LoveStories, Westerns, True Stories; WAM! America’s Kidz Channel; and MOVIEplex. TelVueCorporation is the largest provider of automated ordering services for the Cable andDirect Broadcast satellite industries serving over 700 cable systems, reaching over 16million addressable cable homes.

A cable subscriber contacts TelVue via an 800 number or on theInternet and TelVue processes the order request and routes it to the correct cable systemservicing that subscriber. The cable subscriber’s converter box then descrambles theprogram and the charge for the movie or event is placed on his cable bill. TelVueprocesses nearly 3 million order requests per month for its cable affiliates.

The Starz-Encore application will focus on the Internet and allow cable subscribers torequest an immediate free preview of Starz or other Starz-Encore channels by visiting theStarz website, the cable company’s website or a special "Starz Freepreview" website. When the subscriber’s request is approved, in less than two(2) seconds, his "cable box" will automatically descramble one or more of theStarz channels for up to thirty (30) days. Simultaneously TelVue will notify the cablecompany that a "Free preview" has been activated. Sometime during the freepreview period a sales representative from cable company will contact the cable subscriberin an attempt to get him to subscribe to Starz on a regular paid basis.

Verona MejorFree previews are a common form of marketing premium pay-TV channels like Starz, HBOand Showtime. However, up until now, free previews were scheduled for all subscribers atspecific times of the year. Starz Encore will be the first premium pay-TV service offeringon demand free previews at the cable subscriber’s convenience. According to (someoneat Starz), "We will be able to use the Internet to explain the service in detail tothe customer and then let him sample it immediately. We have a great premium programmingpackage and once customers have a chance to see it, we believe that they will want to keepit."

TelVue Corporation and Starz Encore Group intend to begin testing the on demand freepreviews in September on selected cable TV systems.
