Joel Paymer Owner, Camera Land | As a midtown Manhattan retailer where retail space is expensive, the benefits of a Film Processing kiosk with the need for extremely little floor space, no plumbing, no chemical mixing, no negative handling, limited maintenance and self-service features would make a very attractive product for my store. |
Bryan Asa Vice President of Corporate Development, Japan Camera | At Japan Camera 1 Hour Photo, our mission is to help our customers capture and enjoy a lifetime of memories, and KADCs FPS, self-service modular solution helps us do just that. |
Jerry Sullivan CEO, Precision Camera | By being the first retailer to test the FPS, direct to digital dry film processing system, we are embracing the future of photography and more importantly, focusing on what our customers want and that is the convenience of digital imaging whether they use film or digital cameras. We are delighted by the results weve seen and are encouraged by our customers participation, purchases and repeat visits." |
Terry Shuchat Owner, Keeble & Shuchat | Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Keeble & Shuchat caters to a clientele of digitally-oriented and tech-savvy customers. As the first West Coast retailer to test KADCs revolutionary rapid film processing system, we are enabling our customers to experience firsthand the transition from analog to digital photography. |
Jerry O'Neill Freelance Writer (Photographic Magazines - US and abroad) | Spa hotel rooms"The ICE technology, for removing scratches, dust, and so on for scanned images, the ROC technology, for color restoration, and the GEM technology, to minimize grain, are all powerful tools that make the images from existing pictures better than they would otherwise be. They either correct for fading or they correct for graininess in the original or for the scratches and dust that happen over years of storage. They (ICE3) do instantly and better what hand retouching would have to be used for otherwise." |
Henry Wilhelm Wilhelm Imaging Research | "Digital GEM is something that should be provided in every scanner sold. GEM technology goes further to reduce grain without giving up sharpness than anything previously available in the marketplace. It's really quite sensational!
This technology completely changes traditional notions about film speed, format size, and the granularity of the final image. The improvements in smoothness of tone are dramatic -- 35mm starts to look like medium-format, and medium format takes on the wonderful tonality of 4x5 originals. When GEM technology is applied to the images of high-speed films, with their inherently coarser native granularity, the images can look like they were shot with fine grain, 100-speed emulsions. This gives photographers all sorts of new options that simply did not exist in the past." |
Mitchell Goldstone President 30 Minute Photos Etc. Irvine, CA | "KADC's Digital ICE is 10x better than anything else in the market. Digital ICE benefits are brilliant!" |
John Moore President PhotoMagic Austin, TX | "We have been using Digital ICE for about a year now. We LOVE it! I cannot begin to estimate the money and time that it saves us in paper waste and redos. I can't imagine purchasing a lab today that didn't have Digital ICE." |
Brian P. Lawler Graphic Arts Consultant Phone: 805 544-8814 email: brian@thelawlers.com | "I am aware of most of the image restoration software products on the market, and have used several of them for years to fix dull or flat images and restore those to lifelike quality. KADC's Digital ROC software/hardware combination is much more than I have seen with the other products. As a demonstration, the KADC engineers asked me to provide them with some old, faded, or damaged images. I dredged through the (actual) shoebox of old family photos, and found two treasures which fit the need perfectly. One is a handsome, though aged Kodachrome transparency taken of my mother in 1940. The other is a Kodachrome of my two older sisters, vintage 1949. Though both images are in reasonable condition, their color has faded considerably. KADC scanned these example images and applied their ROC tools. In a matter of minutes my mother's image, long faded, looked as good as any freshly-processed transparency. The image of my two sisters, wearing matching plaid skirts (I'll use this soon to embarrass them!) is as vibrant as it probably was in 1949. Digital ROC digs deeper into an image to restore the color of the film's original grain structure as it is scanned by the digital scanner. Instead of making tonal and saturation changes on a bad image, it looks "beyond color" to restore what likely was in the original image. You have to see the results to believe them. I was impressed --amazed really --that this technology has the ability to resurrect images so effectively. KADC successfully restored a lovely photo of my mother in her youth. Now, if they could just figure out a way to bring my mother back..." |
Joe Farace Editor, eDigitalPhoto.com (a Shutterbug Magazine) | "KADC has created innovative solutions to problems that photographers and digital imagers have had for years. I was impressed with their ICE technology before and I think that the rapid film processing direction was something that was unexpected to me from a company that was improving flawed images to actual creation of images (PIC) from input of photographers and I think that it's very impressive." |
Herb Bethoney Senior Analyst PC Week Phone: 781-393-3943 email: herb_bethoney@zd.com | Swiss Albergo "There is no way to reduce grain consistently or over the entire image. The filters in Photoshop are too coarse. That's why Digital GEM technology is incredible. Talk about productivity!" |
Kristy Holch Industry Analyst Principal, InfoTrends Research Group Phone: (617) 859-0300 | "KADC is providing the imaging category with unique technologies that offer significant value-add to manufacturers, in a market challenged by price erosion and me-too products," stated Kristy Holch, principal, InfoTrends Research Group. "Manufacturers that incorporate KADC technologies have potential to deliver unique benefits to users with greatly improved image quality." |
Bill Smith Principal Boston Photo Imaging | "KADC has quickly developed a reputation of being a leader in development of new technology. Just ICE, by itself, is enough to have made the company as famous as it is within the photo industry. KADC is putting together a team of such incredible people and are constantly looking for new ideas, no matter how wacky. We're so happy to see a company doing these things and they definitely have a significant place in our business." |
